There was not a single moment when I felt afraid!

Fortunately, I was accepted by Professor Vladimir Dugalić as his patient, who did not return my documents and told me he could not help me. My life was in danger due to a 25-cm tumour in my liver. In 2019, I underwent a risky 10-hour surgery. I did not feel scared during or after the operation because I had a lot of faith in Doctor Vladimir. Everything went smoothly for my benefit, and I have been cured.

They are the best doctors in the world for me!

Ljiljana Radman is my name, and my husband and I live in Šipovo, Republika Srpska. We have two small children. I was identified as having a pancreatic malignant neuroendocrine tumour with liver metastases at the start of 2021 in KC Banjaluka. I had four chemotherapy sessions in Banjaluka, which did not help me and caused the tumour to grow.

My situation was so severe that I was sent home after being informed that surgery was not an option. I found out about Dr Vladimir Dugalić in the meantime through other patients.

My spouse left with all the findings to discuss them with Dr Vladimir. He informed him that although I was in very bad shape, he could still do surgery on me.

We travelled to Belgrade in seven days to the Clinical Centre at the First Surgical Clinic, where I was operated on. Doctor Dugalić and his entire surgical team performed a difficult operation. They are, in my opinion, the best doctors in the world. They performed a miracle, and I would not be alive today if it hadn’t been for them. I’ve been feeling great and completely healed for nearly two years now, thanks to everyone, especially Dr Vladimir Dugalić, who gave me a second chance at life.

The entire staff is extremely professional and friendly. My husband Neđo and I are grateful to them, and we wish them much success in their future endeavours.

Forever grateful, Ljilja!

Fortunately, I landed in good hands!

In December 2018, I received a diagnosis of a gallbladder tumour that was partially covering my liver and duodenum. I was immediately admitted to VMA and underwent a tissue sample procedure on December 27, 2018. Unfortunately, I was discharged without surgery, with the VMA surgeon remarking on the severity of my condition. On December 31, 2018, upon my request, I consulted an excellent oncologist, Dr Manojlović, who began my treatment with two rounds of chemotherapy, followed by 25 radiation treatments and five milder chemotherapies. Two months later, I underwent magnetic resonance imaging of the bile ducts and abdomen, which showed that cancer had been eradicated, but also revealed scattered stones, bile duct deformity and a stomach ulcer. Consequently, surgery was recommended. However, the VMA Concilium, which was presented with all the findings, refused to perform the surgery, possibly due to my age (82 at the time). None of the members of the Concilium had ever examined me.

Dr Manojlović once again provided me with assistance by introducing me to Professor Dugalić, who, after reviewing my medical records, assigned me to the department of the First Surgical Clinic. There, he began administering all the required tests and medications to strengthen my body, with constant personal monitoring of my condition. This level of interaction instilled complete confidence in me towards Professor Dugalić, and I approached the operating room calmly and relaxed, where he performed an eight-hour operation.

Following the operation, I quickly fell asleep, likely due to anaesthesia and my age. Upon waking up, I found Professor Dugalić standing by my bed at six o’clock in the morning. He returned two hours later to check on all his patients, including me. Initially, I assumed that such emergency visits were standard procedures after difficult and prolonged operations. Professor Dugalić was renowned for his patience and sincere concern for each of his patients. He visited me almost every day at six o’clock in the morning, demonstrating care and seriousness while inquiring about my well-being and offering advice. Most importantly, the operation was a success, and my family and friends noted that I was lucky to be under such capable care. I believe that Professor Dugalić’s skilled and deft hands were responsible for saving my life.

In my opinion, Professor Dugalić was exceptional, possessing brilliance, calmness, modesty, bravery, and extensive knowledge in his field. He was kind to his patients and, most importantly, a noble individual. As I approach my 86th year of life, I still wonder whether there are any others like him. Additionally, I was fortunate that my exceptional oncologist, Professor Manojlović, connected me with Professor Dugalić, who was not only incredible but also daring enough to perform a procedure that other doctors had declined, allowing me to continue enjoying life. For as long as I live, I will be not only grateful but extremely grateful for him.
